Protectors of the Couth, Warriors Against the Gauche

Behold the Malevolence

Couth is the essence of all that does not suck. There is no worse atrocity than to be uncouth, so it is our everyday battle to spread the couth to the deserving world. It is our mission, our purpose, and our burden to bear.

Arcane Malevolence is founded on the notion that originality and creativity should be nurtured and fostered in music. By mixing progressive melodies and intentional dissonance with heavy rhythms, psychotically inspired vocal stylings and almost nonsensical lyrics, Arcane Malevolence hopes to rip the world a new music hole. Plus we’re a bunch of fun guys, can we come over for dinner?

We are influenced by anything dynamic, progressive and heavy... Emperor, Opeth, Nevermore, Arcturus, Dark Tranquility, Carcass, King Crimson, Devin Townsend, Symphony X, Death

Arcane Malevolence was formed by Johnny Pluckman, Mike Devaney, Chris Anderson and Angel Roig in September 2007 from the remnants of 3 local Connecticut bands. Fortunately for them, those 3 bands sounded very different from each other, and thus gave birth to the recondite abomination that is Arcane Malevolence.

After a year of writing and playing shows, their original singer, Angel (also of Age Old Nemesis, Baphomets Horns and From Below), got back together with his ex-girlfriend and decided to have a bunch of kids, leaving the strapping young lads of Arcane high and dry for a mouthpiece. Fortuitously, Chris Baldwin, recently parted from an even differenter sounding band, stepped right in and solidified himself as the new vocalist by bringing the music and stage show to the next level.

After a year and a half of grueling recording and mixing, the debut album Wicked Turn of the Vine is complete and has been unleashed upon the world.
